I was glad to see Mexico host the Open Government Partnership summit. With some 1500 participants from governments, civil society organizations, businesses and governments, during three days people shared experiences and real examples of how openness can improve public services, drive economic growth, reduce poverty and make governments more accountable to the people they serve.
Yes, the more sarcastic and negative of you might laugh at the prospect of transparency and openness being implemented in Mexico, with rampant corruption and all. But it is indeed an increasing transparency that will assist reduce corruption, and openness will help us all get better services, make our governments more accountable, and benefit all of society.
So less sarcasm, more hope, and more action. If you're curious, have a look here: http://www.opengovpartnership.org/
