Yesterday night I was incredibly lucky to attend a free open air concert by Tanya Tagaq, a concert that served as sound track for a 1922 silent film that was being played - Nanook of the North. The video below doesn't do her justice. Her own songs, if you simply listen to them, probably don't do her justice either. Tanya is a performer you must see live so you can feel her energy, her connectedness to the far north and the Inuit, so you can resonate with her throat singing and her unearthly expressivity. If you believe there are aliens amongst us, this is how they would probably sing. Absolutely enrapturing.
